Everything you might want to ask.
We’ve answered the questions that come up most often, from materials to timelines to warranty. Can’t find what you need? Just give us a call.+44 7301 016565
We come out, physically assess your ground conditions, access, drainage and existing surface (not just take measurements from a photo), and talk through realistic options for your budget. You get a written, fixed-price quote afterwards — not a verbal estimate that changes later.
No. Every job is carried out by our own team, start to finish. If an issue comes up mid-project, you're dealing with the same people who quoted it, not a stranger.
Spring and summer get booked 2–4 weeks out. If you're planning for a specific date (like before a family event), tell us early — we can usually work around it if we know in advance rather than being asked the week before.
For groundwork-based jobs (driveways, patios, extensions), day one is usually excavation and clearance — the least visually exciting but most important stage. If you're expecting to see the "nice" finished surface immediately, that comes later in the process, not day one.
Yes, and we'd rather you were around for key decisions (like confirming a border colour or gate position) than find out afterwards it wasn't what you pictured.
Resin drains through the surface itself (useful if you're worried about pooling or need permeability for planning reasons) and resists weeds better long-term. Block paving is more repairable — if one section gets damaged years later, we can lift and replace just that section instead of redoing the whole surface. Neither is objectively "better," it depends on what you actually want to avoid dealing with later.
We supply everything as part of your quote, from trusted suppliers we've used before — not whatever's cheapest that week. If you have a specific brand or supplier preference, tell us and we'll price it in.
Panel fencing is faster to install and more affordable, but has a shorter realistic lifespan in exposed, windy spots. Closed-board fencing (vertical feather-edge boards on rails) costs more but handles wind loading far better — worth it if your boundary has taken damage in previous storms.
Usually yes for fencing (matching timber style/height). For driveways, exact colour matching on an older resin or block paving surface can be difficult due to natural fading — we'll be upfront if a perfect match isn't realistic rather than promising one.
Timing matters — some species (like certain fruit trees) shouldn't be pruned in specific seasons without risking disease, and protected species may need permission first. We check both before recommending work, not after.
Yes — we offer a completely free site visit and no-obligation quote for every project. We discuss your ideas on-site and provide a transparent, detailed price breakdown before any work begins.
Fixed, based on what we assess during the site visit. The only thing that could change it is something we couldn't see beforehand — like discovering a hidden drainage pipe during excavation — and we'd stop and discuss that with you before continuing, not add it to the final bill as a surprise.
A small deposit secures your booking date; the balance is due on completion, once you've seen the finished work — not before we've started.
For bigger combined projects (like groundwork plus a driveway plus fencing), we can discuss staged payments tied to project milestones. Ask us during your quote if this would help.
With us, no — waste disposal, site clean-up and material delivery are all included upfront. If a quote from anyone doesn't explicitly mention these, ask before booking.
Call us. We come back and assess it under our workmanship guarantee — this isn't a "read the small print" situation, it's genuinely how we've built repeat business across Preston.
Depends on material — tarmac and resin need a short curing period (we'll tell you the exact number of days for your specific job) before full vehicle weight; block paving can usually take light use sooner. We won't leave you guessing.
Properly compacted sub-base and correct edging significantly reduce this — it's one of the main reasons rushed groundwork causes problems years later, not months later.
New turf needs regular watering for the first 2–3 weeks especially in dry spells, and shouldn't be walked on heavily until it's rooted. We'll give you specific guidance for your garden, not a generic leaflet.
Call or message us directly, describe the issue, and we'll arrange to come back and look at it — usually within a few days, not weeks. We'd rather fix a genuine issue fast than have you sit on a complaint.
